Duplicate Gmail email address
2
There is a girl, who created the same email address as mine just without the dot. I know that this should not be possible, because both should be the same. However from time to time I receive emails, which are not for me - like purchase orders she has done from sites, which I do not use. In one of the orders there were even her telephone number and home address. I called her and she confirmed that she has the same names and has recently created the email - same as mine without the dot.
I hope it's just her mistake to use my email, while thinking she has created the email without the dot. However it is pretty disturbing and I am worried that she might receive emails, that are for me and may contain confidential information.
Would be grateful if someone can advise me where I can report such a problem. There should be a support team that can check and confirm to me that my email address is not duplicated.

there is nothing to check
thats actually also your email address so you get all email sent to it including some people sending to what they THINK is someone elses address but actually belongs to you ( just like a phone call to the wrong number doesnt mean someone has your number ) . and nobody else can access that email cause its yours so they do not get your emails.
(1) Send a test email to the other address - you will receive it in your account.
(2) Log out then sign into your account BUT enter the other username and your password . You will see that you will be signed into your account

Hi Monika Nedkova!
First, it is important to note that Google does not distinguish between gmail accounts with or without dots in the name. (Nor upper or lowercase). This means that the dots are completely ignored and that emails with or without them are treated as identical. Since the dots are ignored during creation as well as sending/receiving emails, you can't have more than one account with that gmail address ever.
So for example the following accounts are all the same, and all refer to just *1* account- the one without any dots:
and so on.
Unfortunately, there are many websites and users that do not actually verify that a user's email address is accurate. I believe eBay doesn't or certainly didn't at one point. So it's very easy for someone to put in a user name incorrectly. If they use your email address and include a dot, you will get those emails.
Since there is only 1 email address when dots are ignored, it is not possible for someone else to have access to the same email address unless they also have your password. Thus the other person can never get access to your emails, nor the ones they are expecting.
Hope this clarifies things for you, but of course please feel free to inquire further!
